The first day of spring is one thing,
and the first spring day is another.
The difference between them is
sometimes as great as a month.

We started our week with flurries bordering on heavy snowfall. As Monday progressed the skies eventually cleared and the thermometer hit 39 degrees. The sap could heard “tinking” in the snow covered aluminum buckets. That my friends is a joyful music this time of year. The sap is flowing strong so we will be boiling another round of sap this weekend. Ya-hoo for spring!
Be well, do good.
Hi! I was so happy to read your new blog posts. I cannot wait to sail again this summer. I'm still deciding which trip to take. I hope you are all enjoying the start of spring after this harsh New England winter we had. I am sure Maine residents are quite used to all this snow but down here in tropical CT, this has been an out of the ordinary year for snowfall amounts. See you soon!
Hugs,
Cynnie
A friend of mine used to say that here in New England, we don't have spring, we have sprinter – a combination of spring and winter. Whatever happens, I hope the maple syrup keeps flowing. Yum! 🙂

I just read an article on-line from the BBC about the Barque Elissa. Of course, the Elissa is most famous for being the spring vacation home to an infamous Maine Windjammer captain. Recently she also gained fame when American astronaut Catherine Coleman took a small part of Elissa with her to the international space station.
